ADA – Abejas de Amor

ADA – is a beehive project and itself a social sculpture of Juan Petry. The artist is beekeeper since years and catched some wild swarms of spanish black bees in early spring 2015 and 2016 for the color garden in Cervera del Maestre.

The main goal of the project is, to give wild swarms a host in several proteced areas in the Baix Maestrat region in Castellon. The artist is asking for land without typical intensive industrual agricultare. He is looking for people with interest in bees. If somebody offer a plot, the artist will mount beehives.

One of the main problems of contemporary bees is the combination of chemical treatment and globalisation of industrial honey production and its implications.

Modern beekeepers are in a trap between economical needs and healthcare for the bees.

This project doesnt address economical benefit! Polinisation and deeper understanding of people, the joy to work with animals and to keep on developing diversity in fruits and vegetables are the main goals.

“Art itself is a tool to sculpture societies, and i dont hang up to use this wonderful tool (Juan Petry)”. The artist is working and living in Cervera del Maestre and also founder of the CASAdelDRAGON, artist residence and think tank.

If you have a swarm in your garden, if you want to know more about bees, if you have a plot – not treated with chemical products – you should come to the CASAdelDRAGON in Cervera del Maestre.

ADA  = abejas de amor – social plastic by Juan Petry and a new working unit of the living community FamiliaFeliz.
