In 2015 early spring we started in the color garden with first beds, surrounded by natural stones to guard the soil. We used carton to cover the beds and we mixed the local soil with some from a creek nearby.

Only after one year we notice better soil quality. Its amazing what happens, if you protect the soil a little bit with straw and don’t move or turn the soil.

I remember Carmen from Switzerland moving a lot of soil and stones to that place and work hard some days. This area of the garden was dry, hard and didn’t look like a nice place for plants. Under a big level of old organic material (mostly carob tree leaves and little pieces of wood) we arranged a top level with charcoal, soil from the creek and first little quantities of our self-made TERRA-PRETA mix.

The soild has turned to dark, vital and airy light. Thanks to Carsten, Margret and Mariella for moving so much material to this bed. Now we will imagine the result…

I am on the way also to clean the space around the little trees and guide them a little. Amazing to see the power of local types, surviving in the hot summer with less than little water and nobody around to bring some.

Let me say, I am a little bit between 10 and 100 and therefore I will take care of the trees and offer my knowledge to the guests of the CASAdelDRAGON and the colorgarden.
